Cultivating Creative Thinking: What Makes a Great Art-Based School?

Great art-based schools are places where creative thinking thrives across all disciplines. At Chitravathi Centre for Creativity (CCC), we provide students with the resources and guidance they need to realize their artistic potential. Our goal is to develop dynamic curricula that stay up-to-date with the latest trends in both the art world and the educational landscape. We see our alumni as global ambassadors, spreading our reputation worldwide. For us, art is more than just a subject - it’s a transformative tool that benefits all students, helping them think mindfully and futuristically. We aim to nurture artists at heart, regardless of their initial passion for art.

Our art programmes cover a wide range of artistic disciplines, preparing students for rewarding careers and a fruitful future. With state-of-the-art facilities, students can bring their creative visions to life, whether through prints, paintings, sculptures, pottery, or clay modelling. We also introduce students to digital art, recognizing its crucial role in today’s artistic landscape. Proficiency in design programmes and art-making software is essential for those aspiring to turn their artistic practice into a professional career. Further, art-based schools play a vital role in today’s educational landscape by enriching students’ lives and shaping their perspectives. At Chitravathi, we design an independent curriculum that ensures a smooth transition from student to professional. This approach allows our students to pursue diverse courses in art, design, and beyond.

Being at a renowned school where art assumes prominence means you are constantly inspired by interactions with some of the most intriguing and creative minds. If you are passionate about art, our school can elevate your creativity to new heights, expanding your horizons beyond what you ever imagined possible.

At Chitravathi, students engage with distinguished figures and luminaries like Bose Krishnamachari (President, Kochi Biennale Foundation), E.P. Unny (Chief Political Cartoonist, The Indian Express), artists Nilima Sheikh and Pushpamala, Sudarshan Iyengar (former Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Vidyapeeth), Arun Desai (distinguished Paper Engineer), Jayachandran Palazhy (Founder of Attakkalari Centre for Movement Arts) and Dr. Leslie D. Joynes (Fulbright-Nehru Senior Scholar in Art) have already interacted with our students. These luminaries conduct classes and lead workshops, enriching our students’ educational experiences.

We have established partnerships with esteemed institutions like the National Institute of Design (NID) Madhya Pradesh and Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design, and Technology in Bangalore and much such collaboration are in the pipeline. Our efforts include curating exhibitions featuring our students’ artworks at prestigious venues like the Kochi Biennale. These initiatives facilitate meaningful interactions with curators and enhance our students’ visibility in the broader art community.

Promoting Brain Hygiene
Through these enriching interactions, Chitravathi ensures the holistic development of students’ minds and promotes their brain hygiene. This concept involves practices aimed at enhancing mental well-being and cognitive function, similar to maintaining physical health through personal hygiene. By prioritizing brain hygiene, individuals can foster optimal brain health, build resilience to stress, and enhance overall cognitive performance.

At Chitravathi, our initiatives focus on encouraging hands-on learning through art projects, science experiments, and group activities to foster active participation and exploration. We incorporate play-based learning to stimulate creativity and early childhood development, while providing opportunities for self-expression through activities like drawing, writing, and storytelling. We also promote collaboration and teamwork with group projects that enhance problem-solving skills and social interaction.

Additionally, we allow students the autonomy to choose their learning topics and materials, fostering engagement, motivation, and independence. We are dedicated to making every student’s artistic journey enriching and transformative.
